1. Lubricate the slots of the strips using kerosene (paralin oil) or diesel fuel to ease installation. An inner row of four and an outer row of three grid damper strips are required for each half of the antenna. 2. Twist open the end slot of the first damper strip and slide it onto the sixth element (seventh element for opposite half of antenna) of the antenna to start the outer row. Make sure that this end of the strip is positioned 3 in (76 mm) from the antenna rim as shown. If you are working on a GP6-890 antenna, start installation at the fifth element instead of the sixth (or seventh). Continue opening the slots and sliding the strip onto adjacent elements. 3. Install a second strip adjacent to the first so that they overlap across two antenna elements as shown. Install a third damper strip adjacent to the second and in line with the first as shown. The second and third strips must overlap across two antenna elements. Adjust the strips of the outer row so that they are aligned. 4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for the inner row, but start at element 2 and include a fourth strip as shown. Make sure that the third and fourth strips overlap across two antenna elements. 5. Repeat Steps 1 through 4 for the opposite half of the antenna to complete the installation. |
